Globetrotting Europe 3

ITALY...

Wow, I love Italy. Our first stop was Florence, but on the way we had to, just had to, help prop up the Leaning Tower of Pisa. And of course, you had to, had to get the touristy photo of you doing it. The town itself doesn't have much to it - it's a student town and quite small, but the tower and surrounding buildings are beautiful.

After that it was back on the coach and on our way to Florence. Our campsite here was amazing - we had proper canvas tents (yay no tent building for us), and the bar had the most amazing view! That evening we took a walk into the town - which our view overlooked - and went out for dinner with the whole group. Surprise surprise, the microphones came out again for kareoke, and perhaps a few too many drinks accompanied it :)

The next day was raining and miserable, and matched the hungover faces of the group. We had a walking tour of the city, but I don't think anyone remembers much about it. By lunch time we had to buy an umbrella because it was bucketing down. Our umbrella broke as we opened it - haha - serves us right for getting a cheap one from a street hawker. So, we sought refuge in a restaurant, and had lunch and iced coffees.
The next day we headed to Rome for the final leg of our tour. We stayed at Camping Roma - the most amazing campsite, with an awesome bar and pool. We had a night tour into Rome and saw the famous Colloseum, Trevi Fountain, and all that Rome has to offer. Oooh and te gelatti yum :) The tour carried on into the evening, and by the time we got to the Colloseum it was closed, so we had to settle for a peek through the gates.

The next day we were up early for a tour of the Vatican. What an amazing place - it has so much history and so many stories to share, it is indescribable. We saw where the Pope lives, and where he makes his appearances from. We then went back to the Colloseum and took a tour inside - it was so overpowering standing inside that building. Just unbelievable - a place that I had always dreamed of seeing and there I was standing in it. Just - wow!

The rain once again visited us in Rome, so we headed back to the campsite for our last few hours to say goodbye to our tour group. Sniff sniff. But it wasn't all sad and sniffly - we were on our way to Greece!
