I just read my last post, and I hadn't realised it had been THAT long since I last wrote about the happenings of my life in LondonTown. Sjoe!So much has happened since that trip to Spain. I have since gotten dual nationality and I now have an Irish passport, which makes travelling so much easier! The day I got my passport I went for a weekend trip with Dane and some friends to Dublin, which was great - got to see the city, drink some Guiness, meet up with an old
friend from school. It was a really lovely weekend.
friend from school. It was a really lovely weekend. After Ireland, a weekend trip to Italy followed... Bergamo near Milan to be exact. This was a girls weekend away, and we stayed in a lovely little B&B which cost us next to nothing (which was even better). We spent time in Milan, and we went to Lake Como, which was just breathtaking. It also snowed over the weekend, which just topped off the weekend!
Australia was my next trip after that - Gold Coast, near Brisbane. I was there for 2 weeks with Dane, meeting his friends and family. We had such a lovely time there (and it was so nice and hot), that I have since decided to move there next year! Yes - you read correctly, I am carting myself to the other side of the globe next year to live in good ol' Aus-tra-lia ;)
We saw in the end of 2008 in Australia, and a few travels have been had in 2009 so far. Dane and I went to Amsterdam for Easter this year, which was an eye-opener if nothing else. We also stopped in Bruges in Belgium along the way and got to try the Belgium beer and dirty waffles (waffles with cream and chocolate - yum)! Amsterdam was a great experience - we saw the Red Light District, went to a sex show, visited a coffee shop (or 2), went for a bike ride, saw a windmill, and saw how they make cheese and cloggs. We also made some really good friends on the trip, so it was a goodie all round.
A few weeks ago we then did a long weekend in Hamburg, Germany. This was a strange trip, as there wasn't really anything any of us really wanted to see in terms of world famous sights. Hamburg isn't really tourist central, so it was more about experiencing Germany - eating the food, drinking the beer etc. And that we did :) We did also do some touristy things, and we learnt a lot about what happened to Hamburg during WWII etc.Dane and I are about to embark on our main trip of the year - on Saturday we leave for a 10 day tour of Europe: Paris - Lauterbrunnen (Switzerland) - Avignon - French Riviera (Nice, Cannes and Monaco) - Pisa - Florence - Rome - Vatican City. After this tour, we then head off to Greece to meet a friend there and spend 6 days in Ios. I'm so very excited about this trip - it's what I came to the UK for! So, when I am back in 2 weeks time, I will make sure to get back on this blog and write about it. I won't want to forget about any of this trip - so catch you on the flip side!
